As a 40-something Christian with more than 18 years of clinical experience in Marriage and Family Therapy, I have found that life is a journey of learning filled with twists and turns that hold the potential to be either the cage that imprisons us or the opportunity that grows us to a new level of development. Therein lies a choice that requires courage. It is a choice either to stay on the long-trodden path where we've been or to brave the new adventure of change. Christian Counseling is a place to find tools, support, and empowerment for that adventure! I would be honored to join you there.
Over the years, I have come alongside a broad variety of clients in therapeutic work, ranging in age from adolescence to geriatric, undertaking concerns such as depression, anxiety, panic, trauma/PTSD, mood disorders, grief, addictions, relational problems, and the difficult transitions of life. Foundational areas such as faith decisions, life and career choices, identity and self-worth, and spiritual formation are also of keen interest in my therapeutic collaboration. I hold a deeply rooted connection to my Christian faith and a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministries from Bethel University Indiana. I am currently pursuing a Doctorate of Ministry in Spiritual Formation & Soul Care from Friends University and would love to bring faith into our therapeutic work together through prayer or scripture to whatever degree you desire. I firmly believe that a strong relationship with the Lord is foundational to personal and interpersonal well-being and well-functioning. I am happy to work together on finding a preferred integration of faith that fits our partnership.
In my practice, I have found a faith-led collaborative strengths-based approach promotes the best environment for therapeutic work, creative problem-solving, and lasting change. I would love to meet you in your journey to help develop your readiness and assist you in building competency, comfort, and confidence in your new direction. To do this, I operate from strong biblical and clinical foundations, including trauma-informed systemic thinking as well as a variety of practical skills from CBT, DBT, and solution-focused models woven together through the lens of Attachment Theory and Internal Family Systems. I am also completing coursework in 2024 to become a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and a Somatic-Informed EMDR provider. I am confident we can find options to help you take the next steps on your journey to well-being!
Thank you for considering me to assist in your new adventure! I look forward to working with you!
